Founding
In the Fall of 1994, five young women decided to establish a new Latinx support group at UC Berkeley. This organization was created in order to give the Latinx community on campus an opportunity to find a home away from home, while providing academic and community resources and a family networking system through a basis of three pillars: academics, community service & collegiate and social networking. Inspired by a family connection to HaU, Hermanas Unidas de Long Beach was established in 2003 with six founding members. They developed a strong reputation at CSULB with staying true to there own morals and with those efforts they have reached hundreds to become Hermanas themselves!
Pillars
ACADEMIC
Hermanas emphasize the importance of their education by participating in study sessions and other related events
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Hermanas are expected to return the support given to them by their communities through various outreach events.
NETWORKING
Hermanas value the relationships created during their professional education by networking with fellow HaU chapters and orgs in California.
Our Purpose
Hermanas Unidas (HaU) aims to provide a family network for students through participation in academic, community, and social events. A place where women can come together and be themselves, HaU is an Hermandad attempting to provide a healthy transition to and from CSULB. HaU hopes to reach out to the CSULB community and provide resources as well as a family networking system through the avenues provided by the three pillars of Hermanas Unidas: academics, community service, and socials/collegiate networking.
